About Me

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCS 23465) and received my Master's Degree in Social Work from San Jose State University. Prior to starting my private practice, I worked for five years as an adoptions social worker helping foster children find forever families and assisting parents with the joys and struggles of parenting. I spent years working with Planned Parenthood and am passionate about women's issues, particularly in regards to reproductive health.

I work with individuals and couples (same-sex and opposite sex) interested in reaching a deeper understanding of themselves and their interactions with the rest of the world. In my practice, I provide a supportive and safe environment for individuals to be heard and understood; at the same time, I am active and engaging.

My approach to therapy is rooted in relational theory, which emphasizes the value of the therapeutic relationship itself. Individuals form ideas about themselves through interactions with others. Psychological problems often occur when individuals have experienced a sense of disconnection or lack of empathy in their primary relationships. Once we have insight into our thoughts, behaviors, and relationships, we can begin to make healthier choices. The process of change many of us crave starts with knowledge.

The relationship between the therapist and client provides a unique opportunity to heal wounds that have occurred in the past while providing a model for positive relationships in the future. I welcome the opportunity to walk with you on your journey of self-discovery.
